ASOMNiiA (John Park) is a producer, musician, and DJ based in Los Angeles and San Diego.

Growing up, John was trained in jazz piano but ultimately traded piano for guitar after discovering metal, punk, and progressive rock in high school. However, he never forgot the free form sense of jazz his piano teacher taught him, which ultimately became his foundation for expressing his imagination through sound via songwriting and performance — from his youth shredding riffs and screaming his lungs out in garage bands, to his years recording and playing shows in the LA area as indie rock solo artist, SUNKEN VESSELS.

It wasn’t until the late 2010s when a duo from Bellingham led by BeachesBeaches and Catacombkid, a monsta named Toki, a deceased rodent with a luminescent cube, and a cellist turned DJ vibing on a spiritual level, entered John’s life and opened up his mind to a whole new world filled with endless possibilities, after initially being spellbound by gold skies, firestones, levels, scary monsters, and nice sprites. It was then that he recalled three repetitive magic words that two French robots had inception’d deep inside his mind during his childhood, which propelled him to make the decision to begin a new chapter in the realm of beats, bass, kicks, and synths. Enter: ASOMNiiA.

In 2020, ASOMNiiA released four demo tracks (“Through the Void,” “Victorious Vista,” “Late Blooms,” and “Lost Angeles”), along with a double A-side single (“Before the Madness”), which consisted of mashed up extended mixes of the four previously released demos. “Before the Madness” was followed by VIP Remixes for “Through the Blooms” and “Lost Vista” released exclusively on SoundCloud and Bandcamp.

In 2021, focus was divided between his new original DJ mix series “ASOMNiiA A.D.” (AAD) and finishing his first LP, “After the Rapture,” with each track thematically exploring a year in his life from 2014 to 2021. “After the Rapture” was released on all major streaming platforms in August 2021, followed by his mix “AFTER DAWN” in October 2021. The following year, ASOMNiiA dropped three more AAD mixes: “ALTERNATE DIMENSIONS” in January, “ANNIHILATION DAYS” in June, and “AWAKENED DREAMS” in December.

Although most of 2023 saw ASOMNiiA taking an extended break from the music, as he was primarily invested with various passion projects as digital creator ALTERNiiA, he livestreamed a special 2-hour audio-visual DJ set “AFTER DUSK” on Twitch in August, which was followed by the release of the “AFTER DUSK” mix on SoundCloud, as well as a 25-minute cut of the live set shared on ALTERNiiA’s YouTube channel.

He is currently working on his second album titled “ii” to be released in summer 2024.
